Hunger – A Goblin Semi-Larp

By: Anton Ardehed
Struggle – Survival – Voting
Scenario format: Semi-larp
Duration: 4 hours
Number of players: 10

Hunger is about the chaotic and savage struggle for survival which a complex and competitive political environment can create. Hunger has therefore been written with the goal to produce certain moral dilemmas and social conflicts. Within this controlled and safe goblin environment, you will gain a deeper understanding of the misery that can be brought on by real issues such as systemic unfairness, starvation and the struggle for power. The main gameplay revolves around distributing dwindling resources between yourselves, and the story is simple:
– You are playing a goblin leader, who is part of the goblin council within a goblin clan.
– Your goblin wants to protect and provide for their loved ones.
– Your goblin does this by Hunting, Arguing, and Competing, before Sleeping; each day.

As a player will be rewarded with something to take home after the scenario ends, based on the survival and leadership performance of your goblin character. (Hunger is a semi-larp, which means that it mixes elements of table-top and live action role-play. However the main table-top element that we will be using are meeple and tokens – so the scenario will contain a lot of live action role-play.)

About the authors
Anton grew up with a love for strategic board games and has gradually yet consistently broadened his horizons to now include role-playing games and live action role-play events. The journey began when he, at age 14, bought the D&D 5e Core Rulebooks Set as it was released, and began game mastering his first ever RPG campaign. From there his hobby activities grew to simultaneously encompass game mastering using several different game systems (such as the current favorites: Mothership, FFG:s Star Wars, and Mythic Bastionland).

Additionally, during his higher education, Anton began tinkering with game design and game development; singlehandedly creating his very own board games and role-playing games (which are yet to be published). Further, he took the opportunity to try out LARP:ing in 2022, which managed to live up to all his hopes and dreams – ensuring that he would return for more. Now, after Anton got introduced to short free form LARP:s at the latest Stockholm Scenario Festival, he returns as a first time Scenario Creator; with his first ever semi-larp – Hunger.
