Family – Fear of Death – Hope

Premiere!
If I Could See Your Face Again takes place in the small West Virginian mining town of Norton’s Gully. Nestled deep in traditional coal country, this tiny town is a place where everybody knows your name, and where God, country, and family stands at the centre of everything.
Together, we will tell the story of how this tiny community reacts to an accident that leaves a skeleton crew of miners caught underground, and the rescue operation that gets set in motion to save them.
The families of the trapped miners are put to the test as both the national and international press centers on their lives, and create a spectacle of their plight and their community. Will the bonds of blood, love, and community be enough to pull them through? Or will they break and shatter under the strain?
You know there is little to no hope of rescue. What would you say if you knew it might be the last words you ever shared? How can you imagine never hearing their voice again? Never feeling their arms around you? How would you keep them alive in your mind, if you could never see their face again?

Bio:
Kjell Hedgard Hugaas is a northern Norwegian game designer, organiser, writer, theorist, and trained actor. He writes and designs on a freelance basis for a number of different studios around the world, and creates chamber larps on his own. Kjell has been designing and running games for over two decades. In games such as Hello in There (2019) and Summer’s End (2021) he has recently deepened his exploration into the spiritual and ritual significance of death. Both from the perspective of the person dying, and the people witnessing it.
Karijn van der Heij is a prolific larper and larp designer from Amsterdam, where she lives with her husband and son. She has been creating larps in the Netherlands with Evolution Events for over fifteen years. Their first international larp is the English run of On The Styx. Karijn has also worked as a freelance writer and advisor for several studios in-and outside of the Netherlands. In her work she is particularly interested in character design options. How the characters design influences the larp, and the choices that the players make. She is an exceptionally good concept thinker, and an equally exceptionally bad cook.
